Dr. Constance Salhany – Founder & Director
Constance Salhany, LMHC, Ph.D., ACT, Diplomate and Fellow, Cognitive Therapy, Certified Trainer and Consultant, Academy of Cognitive Therapy is the Founder and Clinical Director of Cognitive Therapy of Staten Island, PSLMHC, PLLC. Dr. Salhany is a licensed psychologist and has been treating individuals with a broad range of anxiety and depressive disorders for more than 20 years. She received a Masters of Science in School & Community Counseling from CUNY, the College of Staten Island and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. Dr. Salhany is a licensed Psychologist in New York and New Jersey as well a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey.
Dr. Victoria Nichols
Victoria Nichols, Ph.D., is a psychologist at Cognitive Therapy of Staten Island since 2010. Dr. Nichols obtained her doctorate degree from Hofstra University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Dr. Nichols is trained in treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders of both adults and children; utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. Dr. Nichols is a professional colleague of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She also brings to the Center extensive experience as a School Psychologist from the Woodbridge School System. In her experience as part of the school based support team, she collaborated on interventions for a wide range of school age children & adolescents. Dr. Nichols provides psycho-diagnostic assessments for all age groups. Her experience with seniors and elderly was obtained by working at Woodhaven Medical Center and the Alzheimer’s Treatment & Memory Centers of America. There, she became proficient in the testing, memory evaluation and treatment of the senior and elderly population. During her clinical internships, Dr. Nichols worked as a research assistant, performed clinical evaluations at various testing centers and presented at a national conference on the subject of reducing anxiety of the elderly through imagery. Dr. Nichols is a licensed Psychologist in New York and a certified School Psychologist in both New York and New Jersey. We are pleased to have Dr. Nichols as part of the Center. Her impressive background makes her well suited to treat clients of all ages.
Dr. Jennifer Feretic
Jennifer Feretic, Psy.D., is a psychologist at Cognitive Therapy of Staten Island. She obtained her doctorate degree from St. John’s University; where she also received her Master’s Degree in School Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Feretic is trained in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders of both adults and children, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. Dr. Feretic is a professional colleague of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Her background as a school psychologist brings experiences of conducting evaluations, writing individualized education programs, counseling, creating behavioral interventions, performing functional behavioral assessments, and providing social skills training for children and adolescents. She is also proficient in all aspects of psychological evaluations including developmental and learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Dr. Feretic’s experience includes working with adults and children diagnosed with anxiety and mood disorders at Freedom from Fear, individuals with developmental disabilities through Elizabeth W. Pouch Center, and conducting pre school evaluations for CPSE. This clinical background and vast experience makes her an ideal resource for individuals throughout the lifespan. Dr. Feretic has presented research at conferences and has had several journal publications. Her research interests include irrational beliefs as well as anxiety and depression. Dr. Feretic is a licensed psychologist in New York and a certified school psychologist in the state of New York and New Jersey.
Francine Curcio Hansen
Francine Curcio Hansen, M.S. is a postgraduate at Cognitive Therapy of Staten Island. She is license eligible. She obtained her degree from Pace University with a focus in Mental Health Counseling. She also minored in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a member of Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology. After spending 11 years in the financial industry as a Project Manager and Analyst and observing first hand the mental strain put on her colleagues and clientele from the looming financial crisis, Francine decided to pursue her passion in Mental Health. During her academics, she assisted professors in research of experimental studies. She has maintained a fervent connection working in the educational setting conducting evaluations, creating behavioral interventions and methods, and performing functional behavioral assessments. Francine gained her experience in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Depression in adults; utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy techniques under the skilled, watchful eye of licensed clinical psychologist and Clinical Director of The Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy Dr. Steven Phillipson. Francine is a professional colleague of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.
