Neuropsychological Evaluation
Is your child or adolescent struggling with:
- learning in the classroom?
- organizing, focusing, and planning?
- being constantly on the go?
- managing emotions?
- socializing and making friends?
Is your child not working up to their true potential? There is hope. An evaluation can help provide a better understanding of your child and help you navigate the road toward success.
Despite parents’ best efforts, sometimes children still have difficulties. As a parent herself, Dr. Feretic knows how hard this can be. Dr. Feretic takes the time to listen to parents’ concerns and explores them fully. She performs a customized evaluation based on the child’s needs, taking into account the whole child. From there she helps parents put the pieces of the puzzle together and recommends strategies and interventions toward progress. Dr. Feretic understands the neuropsychological processes that underlie learning and has experience working directly within the school system. She is here to support you and your child.
When a child is struggling with learning or emotional difficulties, a school neuropsychological evaluation can help. The first steps to finding the right treatment plan and strategies are understanding how a child learns, his or her strengths and challenges, and diagnoses (if applicable). Results can be used for educational, vocational, and treatment planning. School neuropsychological evaluations are often helpful to examine concerns about learning disorders, attention problems, and more.
A school neuropsychological evaluation is extremely thorough. It goes beyond what is typically looked at in standard psychological evaluations. During a phone screening and intake appointment, Dr. Feretic will speak with you and your child and help determine the level of testing needed.
Dr. Feretic conducts all parts of the evaluation herself from start to finish. After the testing is complete, she meets with parents and provides a report that describes diagnoses (if applicable), the child’s strengths and challenges, and recommendations for interventions and strategies to help a child succeed. She also completes forms for school as needed. Following testing, as your child grows, Dr. Feretic is available for further consultation as educational and developmental demands change. Dr. Feretic has advanced training and is board certified with the American Board of School Neuropsychology.
A school neuropsychological evaluation involves a thorough assessment of the child, tailored to the individual needs. Depending on the referral concerns it can include testing in some or all of the following areas:
- Cognitive abilities
- Academic achievement
- Learning and memory
- Attention
- Planning abilities
- Language
- Visual perceptual abilities
- Fine motor coordination
- Social-emotional and behavioral functioning
